Travel on the lakes

Water route Tahko , opened in simmer 2002, leads from the lake Kallavesi to the lake Suvyari and thus it connects Kuopio with the town Nilsija and resort Tahko. On these route you will see interesting places where you will be able to rest and see something new, for example Wine Information Centre and a shop of ecologically-clear products in Muuruvesi, a museum Maruuni Brunou in Juankoski, beautiful channels in Karjalankoski and Lastukoski. The resort Tahko is a final stop of this route and offers a top accommodation, restaurants and various entertainment programs. If you would like to feel am atmosphere of local unhurried life, visit a harbour and island Aholansaari in the town Nilsija. Water route Tahko stretches 90 km, crossing the lakes Kallavesi, Jurusvesi, Akonvesi, Vuotjarvi and Sjuvjari.
Water route Rijstavesi-Vehmersalmi was also opened in summer 2002. The appearance of this route strengthens the status Kuopio as the oasis of water tourism in Lake Finland. This circle route begins in Kuopio and comes through the lakes Juurusvesi, Muurusvesi, Melasvesi and Suvasvesi. The return way to Kuopio begins from Vehmersalmi through a number of landscapes and lake scenery. The length of the route is 110 km. Vehmersalmi is also situated along the famous route Hjenjavesi and offers various services for those who travel by water.
 Valaam water routes-is a number of water ways connecting lakes Juojarvi, Rikkavesi and Kaavinjarvi, situated between towns Kuopio and Joensuu. The regions Kaavi, Hjenavesi, Liperi and Outokumpu surround Lake Region and offer travelers various activities.
Thematic routes were opened because the landscape on this territory is one of the oldest landscapes in a lake region Sajma. 4000 years ago water level in Sajma lowered on 20 meters and due to this the borders of the lake Juojarvi were founded. One can find the tracks of activities during ancient times along 70 km route.
