Riding bikes in Varpaisjarvi and Tahko

 Beautiful scenery will accompany you during your riding. On the one side you will see a lake, which is seen from every angle and on the other side- steep rocks, on top of which there are trees, in some places water falls down from the rocks, in winter  it turns into ice.
 In Tahko there are many places for having a rest which are specially equipped for it. There are also places where you can either ride a bike or go on foot. We know one of such quiet places not far from our house. A little lake is surrounded by a high rock and the entrance to it is only from one side. Here there is a place for making fires with woods and a big table, where you can have a rest and settle down, enjoying silence, a mirror lake, looking at which you can’t notice the difference between sky and water, you won’t understand what is up and what is down. You can walk around the lake on paths from two sides and you can look in the bottomless pure cold water of the lake from the top. You will have all necessary things for cooking, different things for frying on a fire. You can cook steaks, vegetables, barbecue, you can sit by the fire on comfortable logs or at a table, you can sit on a little raft on the shore, that’s why do as you want. And don’t forget to write your impressions in a copy-book for other curious travelers.
 You also can set off on a journey around Finnish Lake Sevjari. It will be a pleasant trip for yourself and for your bike. You will see Finnish villages where your attention will be attracted to the beauty of flowerbeds, bushes, paths, to the number of statues and just to simplicity. The air is full of aroma of field flowers and smell of warm milk of cows grazing. Some “Ladies” wear “cows bras”, it’s an unusual view, and all cows are clean and looked after. An electrical shepherd is looking after them, the territory of a grazing field is protected by a thin electrical wire and it doesn’t allow cows to go to other fields. If to look attentively, one can see tiny country houses on lake islands among the trees, where there is no electricity and heating, but there is a sun battery, flowers and even a greenhouse. The Finnish come to them by boats which can be left on the shores of the lake without chaining and locking them.
The road surprises by various scenery, you can see either a field or rocky hills, forests with clear air and full of flowers’ and grasses’ aroma. Stop for a while and listen to a natural silence which is only interrupted by birds’ singing, dragonfly, bees buzzing. Let yourself unite with this nature and fragrance. Nature is not a big city, nature is a life!
 You will have an opportunity to get to the resort Tahkovuori by bike. From the cottage alone the country road there are 13 km to the main way, and then some kilometers to the turn to Tahkovuori, and from this turn there is a special bike-walking path which is covered by new coverings. “Feel the difference!”-as it is said. It is quite another feeling when you ride on an absolutely new road. You are riding quickly on a high speed and you are flying like an arrow!  Remember about pedestrians!
In Tahko there is another type of slopes, you can go up on a lift and enjoy the view on the endless water plain. It’s a breathtaking view! You can share your impressions with your friends in the restaurants and resort bars drinking beer and eating sandwiches or some other food, offered to you in the menu. And if after everything that you have eaten, drunk, seen you won’t be able to ride a bike, call a taxi, it will take you back to your quiet and comfortable place which is called Vipuniementie.
