Sea fishing
Norway is an ideal place for fishing. There is hardly ever country which can be compared with Norway about the number of fiords, about pure as a tear water and unlimited opportunities for fishing. The extension of a shore line is 21000 km with islands it is about 55000km, it’s more than enough for every willing man who wants to feel alone watching the beauty of a nature and enjoying a rich catch.

The location of Bergen, one of the most wonderful cities is especially attractive. The world of fiords and little islands which give a fishing unforgettable impressions is 30-minutes’ going from the city centre.
Many people fish from the banks, but you can have the best fishing from the boat. You can hook mackerel and coalfish which is predatory and strong fish. Sometimes you need to have a lot of strength to take a 5-6 kg coalfish out of the water. Cods are considered to be a wonderful catch but it’s not easy to take them out, especially if it is more than 10 kg. For the real fishing lovers and gourmets we advise you to catch and try a halibut.

The techniques for fishing

Trolling
The aim of trolling is to imitate a small fish or some other catch. You can troll both from the boat and from the bank, in deep waters and shoals. While trolling you can catch such kinds of fish as coalfish and cod. It can be difficult to catch fish which live in deep waters and eats shrimps. Though halibut, sea devil or cod won’t be able to resist your lure, if it is in good mood. It’s easy to troll. All you need is a fishing rod, a reel, some minnows. There are many kinds of minnows which are different in size, form, material and color. Minnows are usually made from metal and have different colours. But today such materials as rubber and wood can be used, these minnows move more naturally in the water than metal ones.  Also it is very popular to use artificial lures with many hooks at the same time which are better for a shoal of coalfish and mackerel.

On a natural lure
Fish have a good sense of smell, that’s why natural lure is very good for all sea fish and is very effective. The choice of natural lure is very wide.  The most popular lure is fish, among them is mackerel and herring. Fat meat of mackerel has a strong aroma which attracts cods. All natural lures can be used both partly and entirely. A shrimp is the other effective lure for most kinds of fish and it is the best lure to catch halibut and other ground fish. The other kinds of lures are cuttlefish, crabs, mussels and different kinds of worms. If you don’t have time or wish to look for fresh worms, you can easily find fake or canned worms in special shops.

On a fly
This technique has recently become popular among sea fishermen in Norway. And it’s mostly because of the effective trout catch on a fly. However you can catch cod, coalfish, mackerel and other ground kinds like flounder, haddock, sea cock, whiting on a fly. The main difference between catching on a fly in freshwater and in the sea is that the fly stays on the surface in fresh water, but in the sea it goes some meters down. Traditional imitations of an insect, catching on a fly are losing their popularity. For a fish new rubber lures which move quicker are more attractive and give more catch for fishermen.
