Skiing in Norway

The Norwegians have been skiing for about 4000 years. They turned skiing into sport. The Norwegians are real fans of skiing. Here there are “Alpine” well-equipped resorts and cross-country ski routes. The prices here, comparing with other worldwide mountain skiing places are very reasonable. Norway ski places are very vast and various and differ from each other with wonderful turns. There are many little villages on untouched landscape.

The most popular resorts of Norway are Hemsedal, Trisil, Geilo, Lilihammer and Nurefiell. Norway resorts are good places for family holidays. Except skiing you can drive dogs’ team, go to sauna, have a safari on snowmobiles, sledge, go climbing and take up paraplanning, visit fire show, have slalom competitions and play paintball.

An international resort Hemsdel is a ski resort, which is situated on the top of 625-1450 meters in the centre of Norway. Here there are many slalom descents and toboggan ways. On the top of Totten (1500 m) the highest speed descent in Scandinavia is situated. The height of a village is 625 m. The height difference is 810 m. The number of lifts-21. Skiing rotes-46 (green-18, blue-10, red-10, black-8). The routes distance is 40 km. The longest descent is 6 km.

Even in this season in spite of global warming, tourists who came to Norway to ski were not disappointed. It’s hard to keep surprise: crossing Norway borders, you immediately find yourself in a kingdom of snowy Scandinavian winter. This year many European skiing resorts were unprofitable. Tourists who came with skies in the Alps saw slopes covered with flowers and grass instead of snowy descents. In Norway a skiing season was at its peak.

Trisil
Trisil-(1100 m)- is the biggest resort on Norway. There are 30 lifts and 67 km of descents. The difference in height is 685 m. Children’s ground is 80000 m. In Park there are springboards and ramps. The number of lifts-30, descents-64 (green-21, blue-17, red-15, black-11) The route distance-67 km.

Geilo
Geilo is a skiing resort in Buskerud region with 39 slopes in Hallingdal, situated between Oslo (245 km) and Bergen. A short description of resort: the length of slopes-34 km, (green-10, blue-9, red-15, black-5). The maximum route length-2000 km. The highest point-1964 m. There are 20 lifts, 220 km of skiing routes, 4 lighted routes, 3 snowboard parks, 4 children zones with training courses and entertainment. You can hire snowmobiles. Apres-skiing-riding in dogs’ team, shopping, restaurants.  The difference in height-378 m. There are outer skiing places, Snow Park, skiing routes-220 km, lifts -20.
